Inspired by the concept of “a feast in a museum,” this project reimagines Eatogether Mitsui Outlet Park as a space to be both observed and experienced—an environment where dining is elevated into an aesthetic encounter. Anchored in the brand’s core philosophy, “one dining zone, one theme,” the design moves beyond the idea of a restaurant as a mere container for culinary functions. Instead, each dining area is conceived as an individual artwork, inviting guests to linger, explore, and reflect.
The entrance façade features a horizontal ceiling formed by continuous wooden slats, guiding the rhythm of movement like the forecourt of a gallery. Large expanses of iridescent glass add a sense of intrigue, acting as a visual prelude that evokes the anticipation of entering an exhibition. Once inside, the interior unfolds upon a warm white base palette. Walls, columns, and ceilings are sculpted with soft, flowing lines, deliberately reducing the visual dominance of the architecture and allowing the space to return to a calm, neutral backdrop—much like the unobtrusive white walls of a museum that quietly support the artworks on display.
Throughout the space, curved forms, rounded volumes, and island-style food counters are extensively employed to create a sense of ease and fluidity. As guests move through the restaurant, they are gently guided rather than directed. Each dining zone is designed as a distinct exhibition room, with carefully considered combinations of color, material, and lighting establishing clear identities and strong visual recognition.
At the center, the Japanese cuisine island conveys the serenity and motion of the sea. Dynamic LED lighting projects water-inspired imagery, paired with a solid white marble base, evoking the image of a grand vessel sailing across the open ocean—an homage to the iconic ukiyo-e works of Utagawa Hiroshige. The dessert area draws inspiration from “Mondrian’s geometric compositions”, expressed through soft curves and macaron-toned color blocks that add layers of depth and playfulness, while echoing the warmth and lightheartedness of enjoying sweets. Meanwhile, the grill and fry show kitchen takes cues from Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”, combining black corrugated panels with golden arched forms to introduce a sense of grounded elegance infused with sunlit vitality.
Through Eatogether Mitsui Outlet Park, we sought to reinterpret this large-scale dining venue as a museumlike feast. The design aspires to ensure that every moment—each visit to a food station, each seat taken, each upward glance—offers a rich, multisensory experience that extends far beyond taste alone.
